We welcome the news of £1 billion catch-up plan with the support for the most disadvantaged young people and a #NationalTutoringProgramme at its heart. We are also pleased that extra money will go to schools to lead support for social, emotional & learning loss as in our open letter.
However, it is disappointing that announcements do not include early years and 16-19 providers, as catch-up support should be accessible to ALL young people given the extraordinary circumstances of COVID-19.
Overall though, today’s announcements show what is possible when organisations work together. Thank you to all of you who led the collective efforts to make this happen.
